- Light reflects off of the noggins of Dick Vitale and Dan Shulman to create a spotlight the likes of which hasn't been seen since the citizens of Gotham put out the bat signal.
- Andre Dawkins has cajones the size of small gourds. He has no qualms shooting the rock. Duke fans haven't seen such a quick trigger since Taylor King spent his freshman season in Durham before transferring to Villanova.
- Jerome Dyson remains UConn's only outside threat, and when he's off, the Huskies become one-dimensional. Dyson, who normally is a 72% free throw shooter, made just 3 of 9 from the charity stripe and 6-20 from the field. That's the game right there.
- Jim Calhoun started looking for a tech straight from the opening tip. The refs only obliged after 15 minutes of play, but you could hear the coach dropping f-bombs from up in the rafters.
- The crowd was split evenly between Duke and UConn fans. There was a heated debate about whether Georgetown vs. UConn would fill more seats at MSG.
- On the Jumbotron, Stanley Robinson looks like a sleepy dog, even when he's six inches above the rim.
- If one more sports writer takes the "Duke's unathletic" approach, I'm going to puke. ESPN.com's Dana O'Neil and FoxSports.com's Jeff Goodman both bit the bait and took the easy storyline.
- Connecticut made Brian Zoubek's beard look good. I'm not sure how someone that close to the hoop can miss so many easy buckets - he was 1-5 on the night - but the seven-foot-one center did pull down 11 boards, which is pretty amazing for a guy who's got feet like cement blocks.
- Kemba Walker looks as impotent as a eunuch from the perimeter. He's got not outside shot, which makes his ability to penetrate that much more impressive. Walker's first step is one of the quickest in the game. But for the first time, the point guard appeared out of control once he got in the lane. He finished with nine assists, but six turnovers.
- Miles Plumlee looks like Roald Dahl's "BFG," and he had a less than stellar freshman campaign, but make no mistake about it, he's going to be good, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
