Rotnei Clarke Explodes For 51 Against Alcorn State

The Arkansas Razorbacks started their shorthanded season with a bang thanks to a rousing victory 130-68 victory over the Alcorn State Braves. While Arkansas' score is indeed impressive, it's Rotnei Clarke that absolutely stole not only the show, but the bank's money, the women and children, and whatever else that wasn't nailed down with an outside shooting display for the ages.

Not only did Clarke break the Arkansas single-game scoring record, he also broke the SEC's most 3-point baskets made in a game record as well. Oddly enough, the previous record holder was also a Razorback -- Al Dillard who had 12.

Well, thanks to Rotnei's gunslinger shooting ability, that record now stands at 13.

For those of you worrying John Pelphrey was running up the score, keep in mind the Razorbacks only dressed seven scholarship players. In other words, he didn't have much choice but to play Clarke extended minutes. Here's Clarke's eye-popping stat line. Savor it, because shooting displays like that, even when you can only see it in a numbered format, are still impressive:

FG: 15-21, 3pt FG: 13-17, FT: 8-9, Assists: 5

(51 points on 15 made baskets.  That has to be some kind of record.)

I'll update this post as soon as video goes live. Lastly: MY GOD, ROTNEI CLARKE CAN SHOOT THE FRIGGIN' BALL...

We now return you to regularly scheduled programming.

Update:
Back with one more thing:

Does this look like the guy that could scorch you for 51 points?

Update 2:
Here's video of Clarke's record-breaking shot taken from a member of the Bud Walton crowd. It's looks like a video from a mobile phone, but you can certainly get the gist.

Great post thanks for sharing

Thanks for that picture, Chris. Rotnei is now a candidate for the STF All-Stars on grounds of both name and appearance.

Sometimes you pick up your dribble too soon.

Five assists? FIVE ASSISTS?!? Dammit, Rotnei. Now's not the time to become unselfish!
