Televised action was pretty sparse on the day after hoopageddon, but we'll fill you in on all the happenin's.

Texas 73 - Western Carolina 41

Rick Barnes got to go deep into his bench for this one. We learn by making mistakes, and this game had plenty of those: freshman guard J'Covan Brown got laid out on a hard screen at one point, and had six turnovers to go with his 10 points. Stud newbie Avery Bradley shot an airball on his first try and finished with 4 points on the night. But where better to screw up and live to tell the tale than a blowout? Damion James was his usual assertive self, with 18 points, 7 boards, and a 2-3 evening behind the arc. Harouna Mutombo was the leading scorer for the WCU Catamounts, with ten. He also had one blocked shot; no word on whether he wagged his finger in the no-no gesture.

Butler 67 - Northwestern 54

I can remember the days when a home game like this would have been a gimme, even for Northwestern. But the tables have turned in the past decade, eh? After another offseason of "this could be their year!" talk, Northwestern suffered season-ending injuries to Kevin Coble and Jeff Ryan, which left them unable to compete against Butler's depth for a full 40 minutes. Returning Horizon POY Matt Howard hasn't dominated so far this season, but he didn't need to in this one, as Gordon Hayward, Shelvin Mack, Avery Jukes, and Zach Hahn all achieved double-digit scoring nights in Evanston.

Western Michigan 83 - VCU 67

Cornell 74 - UMass 61

North Texas 101 - Texas-Arlington 99

Utah 68 - Utah State 67

Oral Roberts 83 - Stanford 81

Stat Hounds

Corey Hassan (Sacred Heart): 33 points, 11 rebounds @ Fordham

Dominique Morrison (Oral Roberts): 31 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists @ Stanford

Josh White (North Texas): 35 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists @ Texas-Arlington

Impressive stats here - all against legit DI competition on the road. Way to be strong, men.

Categorical Undeniability

Steals: 8 - Mark Payne (UC-Davis) vs. Cal-Santa Cruz (Non-DI Banana Slugs!)

Ivy Not Creeping Any More

This time of year is usually pretty miserable for the Ivy League. Lots of roadies against power conference teams, and usually lots of losses. But our erudite friends are showing a great deal of giddyup this week. Cornell, Princeton, and Harvard are each undefeated at 2-0. Brown even won a roadie at St. Francis (NY). Cornell, the team that has represented the league in the NCAAs for the past two seasons, is looking even better this year, after beating Alabama and UMass in their own gyms. The Big Red are playing a meaningful non-con schedule, and taking no prisoners.
