The Associated Press released their All-America first team for college basketball today, and there were few surprises. Well, except for the fact the team is primarily made up of forwards. The leading vote-getter was Notre Dame Irish all-around super stud, Luke Harangody. The only true guard appearing is Sherron Collins of the Kansas Jayhawks. Collins is joined by teammate Cole Aldrich.
Harangody, Collins and Cole represent the leading vote getters. Your 2009/10 preseason All-America team:
Luke Harangody - Senior Forward, Notre Dame Fighting Irish (57 votes)
Cole Aldrich - Junior Center, Kansas Jayhawks (49)
Sherron Collins - Senior Guard, Kansas Jayhawks (39)
Patrick Patterson - Junior Forward, Kentucky Wildcats (35)
Kyle Singler, Junior Forward, Duke Blue Devils (30)
Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Does the list need more Kalin Lucas, Grevis Vasquez or Scottie Reynolds? Will the season-ending All-America team resemble the preseason's? Should the All-America team be the five best or the five best at each position?
These questions - and many others - will be answered in the next future episodes of Soap, er, STF.

I just came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Awesome blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
I guess I'm going to need to do some more research, but this is a really good place to start.
"able to stop the 1st Team All-Canadians?"
That's what Patrick Patterson's for. ;)
So if we're going to have ot run a 1-4 defense, will our team be able to stop the 1st Team All-Canadians?
I believe that it should be more like a team instead of the top 5 players. I remember always getting a college basketball preview magazine each season (before the internet) and they broke down the top players for each position: point guard...shooting guard...small forward...power forward...center. I think that it was The Sporting News but not sure. Anyways...when I think of a team...I think of filling those 5 positions...so maybe the AP should rename their 'AP All-America Team' to 'AP All-America top 5'.
It's hard to disagree with those choices. I'd have to say the real problem is just trying to limit it to five guys. It's not like a center - three forwards - guard lineup emulates a real college team anyway.
